Well, there hasn’t been an update in quite some time, so here it is! The last few weeks have been the craziest few weeks of my life. I finished up my last few quarter horse shows for the summer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. I also moved to my new house on the eastside of Milwaukee. I absolutely love where I live, and am excited to start my new journey there.

I have also recently finished up my marketing and communications internship, with Kennedy Heights Community Center. I want to thank the Executive Director,Alyssa Kenney for all the opportunities she gave me to learn much more about myself, as well new marketing techniques.

I still have my internship with the Milwaukee Radio Alliance, and am having a great time attending a variety of events. Last weekend, I worked a great comedy tour for Michael Ian Black. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to more events in the near future.

At last, I am finally a senior at UWM. I seem to find myself wondering how I got here, and what I am going to do in a year when I am done. I am currently seeking a few additional internship opportunities for the
last year of school, which I am very excited for.

This year, I am still the secretary and PR chair for the Milwaukee Equestrian team. I also have been constantly on the website, which I created for the team last year. I am excited to see that some of our PR tactics seem to be working. I am happy to see that we have increased our numbers from 5 members showing last semester, to 18 this semester! Our first show will be in Madison October 1stand 2nd. Watch for more updates on the
Equestrian team coming soon!

The big sisters' baby has arrived. Baby Audrey is finally here! Audrey Jean DuBenske was born on August 3rd, and weighed 6 lbs 4oz. Audrey’s big sister, Claire already is in love with “her baby.” I thought I would post a few pictures, with more pictures to come soon!

Two weekends ago, I was able to attend Warped Tour, working with FM102.1. Of course nothing that I do comes without a little adventure. On the way to the Summerfest grounds I experienced a little glitch with my car, and ended up having to get it towed. However, I did make it to the Summerfest grounds! I really enjoyed seeing all the behind the scenes set up of Warped Tour. I also got to attend and help manage the Paramore meet and greet, which was awesome. Below are a few pictures from the event.

"Friends are the most important ingredient in this recipe of life."

This quote could not be any more perfect to explain life! I decided my page was missing a little love for some of the people that I love the most, my friends. This blog is just a little mini tribute to all my awesome friends, and all of the things you do for me. I truly appreciate each and every one of you. I have included a couple photos of my friends and I throughout the last year or so in this blog. If there isn’t a picture of you, don’t worry, I still love you! (I just probably don’t have any nice recent photos of us so send me one.) :)

Love Always,

Hillary

Well, since I have had a little time off from horse showing, I have created a little more time for my internship at FM102/1. YAY! But no really, I have an awesome job! While I was working at Summerfest I had an awesome time and got the chance to meet a wide array of colorful individuals. While I was working I also got the chance to do several “Meet and Greets.” Some of the bands that I got the pleasure to meet included Jacks Mannequin, Taking Back Sunday, Neon Trees, Panic at the Disco, The Airborne Toxic Event, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s. I also got to see an awesome concert put on by Cage the Elephant, Florence and the Machine, and The Black Keys at the Marcus from the 3rd row! I would have to say the kindest band that I had met to date was The Airborne Toxic Event. I really enjoyed meeting them and chatting. My favorite show entertainment wise was probably Taking Back Sunday. I loved how engaged they got with the audience and let everyone know how happy they were to be performing at Summerfest. Below is a small sample of pictures that I got the chance to snap while at Summerfest. Enjoy!

So as some of you may have noticed, I haven’t updated anything on horse shows lately. Unfortunately this is because my horse is lame (injured). She has tender feet and from time to time they can be challenging. Because of her pads, causing a soft spot in her hoof, it had to be dug out. This caused bleeding in her hoof. She has been sore for a little over 3 weeks now so we had to miss our last 3 shows we had planned for. The vet hopes she will make a full recovery in about another week or so. Hopefully this is true so we can attend our last three shows of the summer. Keep your fingers crossed for us please!

Here is a short update from the last horse show! We showed in hunter under saddle, equitation, halter and showmanship. We had some very nice improvements in the hunter under saddle and had some nice placings. My equitation class also went well. We went in halter for the first time to fill and actually did surprisingly well and ended up with a 3rd and 4th! This was also Dolly’s 3rd show doing showmanship and we received a 1st out of 13 horses! That was definitely the highlight of the horse show. Our next stops are to Winona, MN in 2 weeks, followed directly by another show in St.Paul, MN the next week. Updates on those shows will be coming soon!

Sorry friends! I haven’t been doing too much updating lately on the Dolly horse show summer! We have been busy at work this summer with a long horse show schedule. Our first horse show was in St.Paul Minnesota at the state fairgrounds. We had a great show for our first go at it. This was Dolly’s first time in showmanship and equitation. I was quite happy with her debut. We even had a nice visit from one of my teachers at UWM, Rachael Jurek, and had a really fun time.

For the 2nd show we moved on to Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It was yet another good show with some decent Dolly improvements. For her 2nd time showing in equitation and showmanship, we placed in both! This coming weekend I will be in Jefferson, Wisconsin at the Cap Gun Circuit. Updates will be coming soon following that show. In the mean time, below are some proofs from Bar H Photography of Dolly and I in showmanship and equitation for the first time!

Last weekend I worked at the Blue October concert at the Pabst Theater. I worked there for my internship with the Milwaukee Radio Alliance and FM 102.1. This was my first concert where I got to work a sound check party for station winners. I have to say it was pretty awesome! I checked people in for the sound check and then I got to check it out for myself. Blue October was also accompanied by an awesome band called The Solider Thread. The lead singer had an amazing voice and I am definitely interested in hearing more from her. I also got to meet the band for the station meet and greet. I was expecting them to be very rude and rushed to get out of there but they were actually some of the nicest people I have met. I was really excited to get a signed poster by them and my photo taken with them which is posted below. I also got a chance to check out the actual concert after working and it was amazing! It was an all acoustic show and all the guys had so much talent. It was a really fun concert to see. I’m sure there will be many more concert encounters very soon, and I will be right back here to tell you about them!
